It’s Autumn time for Autumn Bakes

Pumpkin Spice Pumpkin Donuts
With warm weather and sunshine most days it doesn’t feel like autumn is here. I am missing the colors and crisp air the autumn brings with it. The pumpkins, acorns and chestnuts can still be found. Along with autumn and pumpkins comes the hype of pumpkin spice. I never liked pumpkin spice in everything, but my friend made Sally’BakingAddiction.com pumpkin spice baked donuts and they look great. Something I may have to try myself.
I am a fan of apple things. One of my favorites being apple pie. I grew up eating Betty Crocker’s recipe as that is what my mother used. It is a timeless recipe and it has served me well over the years. I sometimes make smaller versions by making bite sized apple pie. I use a round cutter, put a spoonful or two of pie filling on it and fold it over seal the edges and bake. Delish!
Enjoy the autumn weather, embrace the crisp air (when it finally arrives) and take long walks. When you get home do some baking and fill your home with the wonderful smells of fall spices. I love walking in the autumn. Listening and feeling the wind on face , but my favorite is walking in the dry crispy leaves. It’s fun to give them a kick and watch them swirl around. To hear them crunch or maybe even throw them at someone you are with.
In addition, here in Switzerland where I live, hot chestnuts are sold on the street. A favorite of many. Chefs incorporate chestnut paste into many autumn desserts.
Whether you are off to a football game or out for an autumn walk enjoy some of the the autumn flavors with your coffee or tea upon your return.
Until next time.
